Pinky Ball Foot Release

As we wrap up our foot focus this month, I am gifting you a video and pdf download cheat sheet of one of the most popular foot releases that I teach on a regular basis in both private sessions and in group classes.

Our feet are so fascinating. With 26 bones in each foot, arches on the inside, outside and across, there is so much variability for our feet to move in lots of ways. We use them every day and depending on what we do with our feet, what types of shoes we wear, what types of surfaces we stand, walk and run on, there can be a lot of tension in our feet. This release will help you start to ease some of that tension.

Even if you have floppy (or hypermobile) feet, this release is great, as it helps us to bring awareness to the feet. And with hypermobility, some parts of the foot may be tight and others a bit looser.

Releasing our feet helps us to disperse the weight more evenly throughout the feet. It contributes to better mechanics and weight bearing throughout the feet and the ankles. And allows for the bones of the foot to mobilize, especially if your feet feel tight or tired.

There is no wrong or right time to practice this foot release. Play with the timing of it and see when it’s most helpful to you.

Try it…

  • before a walk

  • before a pilates session, class or other workout

  • at the end of a long day on your feet

  • when your ankles feel stiff

  • when your feet feel tired
